| The herbs
in Blessed Relief capsules contain powerful anti-inflammatory
agents that get to the root of the problem, reducing inflammation
and pain. They are also powerful anti-oxidants, reducing
free radical damage that is the root cause of many types
of arthritis and other degenerative conditions, as well
as heart disease.
The three herbs, turmeric, boswellia, and celery seed,
also have many other healing properties attributed to
them, according to recent studies. The herbs are powerful
anti-cancer agents, can reduce blood pressure, the symptoms
of bronchial asthma, inflammatory bowel disease and related
conditions, and has even been proven recently to slow
the progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as
Alzheimer’s. New studies have even shown curcumin,
the active ingredient in turmeric, to be effective in
correcting the gene defect responsible for cystic fibrosis.

Relief Capsules
TURMERIC is a common
spice native to India that gives mustard its yellow color.
In India’s Ayurvedic system of medicine, it is known
as viswabhewshajam, meaning “medicine for many diseases.”
It has been used in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese
medicine systems for centuries for myriad diseases.
Turmeric’s main ingredient, curcumin,
is known to be a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.
In numerous studies, curcumin’s anti-inflammatory
effects were comparable to hydrocortisone and and over-the-counter
NSAIDs such as Motrin. It has long been used to treat
osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also known
to be extremely effective in treating inflammatory bowel
disease and related conditions including Crohn’s
disease, ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.
Researchers think its benefits are the result of not only
anti-oxidant activity, but also inhibition of a major
cellular inflammatory agent called NH kappa-B.
Curcumin has been proven to fight several types of cancers,
especially colon cancer as it fights free radical damage.
It has been shown to kill mutated cancer cells before
metastasis. It is also thought to inhibit the synthesis
of a protein instrumental in tumor formation, and prevents
the development of additional blood supplies necessary
for cancer cell growth.
Curcumin also inhibits atherosclerosis (hardening of the
arteries) by preventing oxidation of cholesterol in the
body, resulting in significant cardiovascular protection.
Recent studies cite curcumin’s ability to fight
chromosomal damage that causes childhood leukemia, and
can correct the most common expression of the genetic
defect that is responsible for cystic fibrosis, causing
normalization of the protein DeltaF508, resulting in mitigation
of mucus buildup.

BOWELLIA, also known
as Indian Frankincense, is native to India and is extracted
from a gummy tree resin called sallai gugal in Ayurveda.
Boswellia has been used for centuries in the Ayurvedic
and Traditional Chinese medical systems as a powerful
anti-inflammatory that does not cause stomach irritation
like modern NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
It is also effective for back pain and chronic intestinal
disorders.
The active ingredient in the herb is boswellic
acid. In studies, boswellic acids significantly
reduce inflammation in several ways, including deterring
inflammatory white cells from infiltrating damaged tissue,
improving blood flow to the joints, and blocking chemical
reactions that cause inflammation in chronic intestinal
disorders such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative
colitis.
Boswellia is also known to ease rhematoid arthritic symptoms
taken internally and applied topically as a paste. It
can lessen morning stiffness and increase joint mobility.
Boswellia was the subject of a recent study that showed
significant relief from bronchial asthma when taken over
a six-week period. Patients saw relief in shortness of
breath, wheezing, number of attacks, and in lung capacity.

CELERY SEED and celery are powerful
foods that contain myriad beneficial constituents. Long
used in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese medicine, celery
is known to be an anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, diuretic
(drains water from tissues in the body), carminative (reduces
flatulence), anti-spasmodic (reduces muscle spasms), sedative
(calms the nerves), and anti-hypertensive (reduces blood
pressure).
It has been long used for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis,
gout, obesity, flatulence, chronic pulmonary catarrh (cough),
lack of appetite, bronchitis and nervousness. It is especially
useful in rheumatoid arthritis where there is associated
depression. It has also been used as a urinary antiseptic
(reducing kidney, bladder and urethra infections) because
of its mild diuretic and antimicrobial qualities.
Celery seed should not be used by pregnant women as it
has the ability to promote the onset of menstruation.
It also contains a mild coumarin, a precursor to Coumadin
(warfarin), a blood thinner.
WARNINGS
AND POSSIBLE DRUG INTERACTIONS
TURMERIC protects the stomach from increased
gastric secretions (stomach acids) that results from taking
reserpine (Serpasil) for high blood pressure.
CELERY is a mild emmenagogue (promotes
menstruation) so consult your doctor before using if you
are pregnant.
TURMERIC and CELERY
contain a very small amount of coumarin, and
although no scientific reports have documented bleeding
or adverse conditions even at high doses, it theoretically
can increase blood thinning effects and therefore may
increase the risk of bleeding when you are taking warfarin
(Coumadin) or aspirin.
TURMERIC and BOSWELLIA
are powerful anti-inflammatory agents and cyclooxygenase-2
(cox-2) inhibitors and should be used instead
of NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs) such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), aspirin,
or naproxen (Anaprox, Aleve), or pharmaceutical cox-2
inhibitors (Vioxx, Celebrex). Blessed Relief tabs
are meant to be taken in place of these drugs, to eliminate
the risk of stomach ulcer. If using one of these drugs,
Blessed Relief can be taken simultaneously while tapering down
on the pharmaceutical.
TURMERIC is not a commonly allergenic
food, is not included in the list of 20 foods that most
frequently contain pesticide residues, and is also not
known to contain goitrogens, oxalates, or purines.
